National Doughnut Day - June 5th, 2015
Support the Semper Fi Fund with a $1 donation, and get a Vanilla Bean Glazed!
On Friday, June 5th, National Doughnut Day, we plan to celebrate by supporting our neighbors on Barracks Row - the United States Marine Corps. 100% of proceeds from sales of the Vanilla Bean Glazed doughnut, which will be offered for $1, will go directly to the Semper Fi Fund for injured U.S. Armed Forces members.
“On National Doughnut Day we invite our friends, family, and fans to support a worthy cause,” says Greg Menna, owner of District Doughnut. “We hope to express gratitude to our brothers and sisters who have suffered to protect our many freedoms and blessings.”
National Doughnut Day finds its origin on the frontlines of World War I, when Salvation Army representatives served doughnuts to soldiers to remind them of home. “Doughnuts have occupied a special spot in the hearts of Americans for a century,” says Menna. “What began as a morale-booster for our troops abroad continues to bring us together and to give us joy at home.”
In addition to the Vanilla Bean Glazed doughnut, we will offer a handful of our signature flavors at regular prices, including Salted Dulce de Leche, fresh Blueberry Glazed, and Nutella S’mores. Doughnuts will be served fresh from 7AM until sell out, so early arrival is recommended.
For those who cannot visit the store, we will run a special promotion with Postmates, the on-demand delivery service. Beginning at 10AM on Friday, a limited number of boxes of four doughnuts will be delivered for $5 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
